The past four days have been awesome on Skiatook. The weather or more importantly the weather forecast did not alter the final results. After over 20 years of doing this I’ve learned one very important lesson: DO NOT let the weatherman talk you out of going fishing.
My trip Sunday afternoon continued a string of outstanding outings on Skiatook. We kept a three person limit of Hybrids and released at least 60 others. As a bonus I also cleaned between 15 and 20 Blue Cats for a family dinner. The bonus on top of the bonus was a Very Good looking 8 pound Hybrid that is on it’s way to the taxidermist!!
The family from Sunday afternoon included a young lady on her first fishing trip in a boat. She took to it like the proverbial duck takes to water. By the end of the day she was catching and passing out shad, and throwing chum in the lake!! She caught the big fish of the day as well as most of the Hybrids. I can’t wait to get her back on board!! It was an epic trip for sure.
