The front deck carpeting on my boat was showing signs of aging. It was torn, frayed, and the color was fading. The rest of the deck paint was losing it’s non-skid properties. While down in Texas earlier this fall I saw a product I liked and called to get the details of the process, costs, and installation time frames. Long story short I had this product applied to the boat and couldn’t be happier.
The product is called Safe Floor. It is small chips of rubber from recycled tires glued to the deck. The application is about 1/4 inch thick and it is extremely non skid. The process to produce the small chips is fascinating.
They grind up the tires and heat the rubber to remove the “Black” color. This leaves the rubber a neutral gray color which can have color added. This makes the color on the finished product be anything from white to black and everything in between.
Here are some pics of the finished product on my boat. I highly recommend the Safe Floor North Dallas operation for installation.
